Beauty Industry Collabs with Musicians to Help Salon Owners Repay Looming CEBA Debts

June 1, 2023

Toronto, ON: Allied Beauty Association of Canada (ABA Canada) is excited to announce a new initiative to help salon and spa owners who are struggling to repay their CEBA debts. Beauty Beats is a playlist that will be played everywhere over the next 6 months to raise funds to help their members offset some of the costs of the CEBA loan repayment.

ABA Canada, a non-profit representing over 35,000 salons, spas, and beauty professionals launched this new innovative fundraiser to help support those businesses that are struggling and facing this overwhelming debt. The industry is still recovering from COVID closures, inflation, and workforce shortages. The repayment of Canadian Emergency Business Account (CEBA) loans on Dec. 31, 2023 will really hurt this industry.

“We needed to do something to help our members,” says Vince Riverso, Chairperson of ABA Canada. “Our members are losing sleep, taking out other high-interest loans, and maxing out their credit cards to pay back $40,000 by the end of the year. If not, they will be saddled with a $20,000 penalty and 5% interest. This could force many of them into bankruptcy.”

Beauty Beats is a playlist that can be played on most of the favourite music streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music. All the music is donated by music artists who are supporting the industry and who will benefit from the national exposure. “We are very excited about this new program, it’s a Win/Win for everyone. There is strength in numbers and we have access to over 35,000 salons and spas that have the opportunity to play Beauty Beats daily. This level of exposure for any participating musical artist is incredible.” adds Riverso.

Call for Music Artists

Beauty Beats is seeking music artists from all genres to take part in an incredible opportunity to share your music across Canada while giving back to our Beauty Professionals! Music artists are being asked to donate a song that is at least 30 seconds in length, to add to the playlist. All music genres are welcome & artists do not have to be“professional” music artists. All are welcome to submit! Each artist will have an online profile & will have fantastic exposure to Canadians from coast to coast!
