It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Dino Paolo Cairo on April 6, 2025, at the age of 55. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Dino lived his entire life with a deep love for his family, his community, and the people around him. His life centered around his family, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with them—especially watching and talking sports, one of his lifelong passions.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 29 years, Jennifer (née Lambert); sons, Connor and Carson; parents, Frank and Shauna (née Thompson); sister Tina and her son, Antonio; brother Joe and his children, Francesco, Alexandra, and Sebastian; brother-in-law Michael (Heather) Lambert and their children, Jack, Nate, and Macy. Dino’s presence in their lives was a gift they will always carry with them.

A true entrepreneur at heart, Dino was a partner in Oriac and MC College alongside his brother. He was deeply respected in the beauty industry and admired for his generosity, warmth, and unwavering commitment to both his work and the people he loved. Dino’s greatest accomplishment wasn’t in business—it was in being a husband, a father, a son, a brother, and a friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty that will live on in all who knew him.

Dino will be remembered for his kind heart, easy humor, and his ability to make everyone feel at home in his presence. He had a way of making people laugh, feel heard, and feel seen. He lived life with quiet strength and a deep love for those closest to him.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., on April 16, 2025, at Santa Maria Goretti Parish, 9110 110 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in Dino’s memory.

We are deeply saddened to share the following message from our friends and industry colleagues at Oriac. The passing of Dino Cairo is a profound loss to the beauty community across Canada and beyond. Dino was a passionate leader, a true champion of our industry, and a dear friend to so many of us at ABA Canada. His presence, vision, and heart will be sorely missed.

Please take a moment to read this heartfelt message from Joe Cairo and Dave Basi:

It is with a heavy heart that we share some devastating news this morning from Oriac. Dino Cairo, our President, passed away over the weekend here in Chicago. This loss is deeply personal to all of us, and I know we all feel the impact of his absence.

Dino was not only a leader but also a kind, caring, and joyful spirit who believed wholeheartedly in our industry and in every one in it. His passion for our business, his unwavering kindness, and his commitment to making our industry a supportive and inspiring environment will forever remain a guiding light for our company.

While we grieve the loss of a remarkable individual, we want to reassure you that Oriac remains strong and resilient. We are committed to carrying forward Dino's legacy by continuing to pursue excellence and by embracing the values he held dear. Our business will move forward with the same passion and dedication that he instilled in all of us, ensuring that every step we take honors his memory and celebrates his contributions.

During this difficult time, both for us at Oriac and for the industry that has lost an incredible person, let us lean on our collective strength and the spirit of community that Dino nurtured.

Thank you for your understanding and for standing together as we honor Dino’s life and legacy. Please, we ask you, let’s keep his spirit alive in everything we do.

The ABA mourns the loss of David A. B. Wickes, father of past ABA president Stephen Pavlick. David was a longstanding ABA member and actively served on the ABA Board.

He passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 15, 2025, at the age of 91. His dedication and contributions to the ABA and the professional beauty industry will be fondly remembered.
